Dr Rakesh Kalia

  • Dr Rakesh Kalia, Asst Professor, did MA (Hindi literature) at Avadh University UP, qualified NET/JRF (UGC) and then joined this college as a lecturer in 1996. 
  • Was awarded PhD by the University of Calicut for his thesis on Hindi Storiette: A Critical Study
  • Has prepared a lexicon of idioms and proverbs in Hindi-Malayalam-English on a research project awarded by the UGC. 
  • His only book has been prescribed as a reference book by the University of Calicut and Kannur University. 
  • His translation of the Malayalam novel Nellu by P Vatsala in Hindi was published by NBT New Delhi. 
  • Has translated more than twenty Malayalam novels into Hindi. He contributes regularly to Manorama Year Book.
  • Is a recipient of the Best Story Award constituted by India Today
  • Has published two research papers and has presented three papers at national level seminars. 
  • Has also presented several talks on Contemporary Issues in Hindi Literature on AIR Calicut. 
  • Has served as a member of the Board of Studies in Kannur University and in the University of Calicut. He was the NSS Programme Officer of the College from 2006 to 2010. 
  • Was also the editor of college magazine. He has conducted a survey to understand the anomalies in the living style of rural and urban Adiya tribal group of Wayanad and is planning to bring out a book on this subject. 
  • Is a member of different cultural forums in Mananthavady town and actively pursues the activities intended to uplift the tribals of Wayanad.
